We think Razor Power Core E90 Electric Scooter is the one of the best choice among the scooters we reviewed. This e-scooter could roll out an impressive 80 minute-ride at 50% more battery power than its competitors. It speeds up to 10MPH with a recharging time of around 10 hours. [Read more]

For a minute, think about the city where you live now.

Clogged with traffic, filled with hideous and unsightly parking spaces which are supposed to serve their right purpose.

Considering the massive population growth, we have no choice but to live and work in an ever-more crowded metropolitan area.

Electric Scooter FAQ

Why Electric Scooter?

Electric Scooter vs Hoverboard

What’s Lacking with These Promising Brands?

You might ask "so, what's your solution?"

Quick answer: Electric Scooter.

Look no further, if you are thinking whether an electric scooter the right choice for you, what should you consider and what are the best electric scooters in 2018.

Because in this article, we'll cover it all.

Without further ado, let's start off with the buyer's guide!

"What Should I Consider Before Buying An Electric Scooter?"

#1 Speed

On average, you should expect the speed range between 7.5 MPH to 15 MPH. Most unlicensed electric scooters have a speed limit up to 20 miles per hour. However, rarely will you find scooters that go up to the highway’s speed limit. These will have a relatively short travel range and may require a motorcycle license.

#2 Weight Capacity

You should consider weight capacity of the scooters, including the weight of load that you are carrying while riding. You don’t want to put too much pressure on the electric scooters, as that could decrease the product’s life. After spending hours looking at multiple Electric Scooters we found out that the average weight capacity is around 120 lbs to 225 lbs.

#3 Distance

The distance the electric scooter can travel depends on a few things. First, a heavy load sucks up battery power much quicker than a lighter load and hence reduce the electric scooter’s traveling range. Secondly, battery strength influences how far you can travel. However, the battery comes as part of the product and there is nothing much you could do about it beside choosing the right scooter or brand. Lastly, the terrain affects the battery consumption rate.

It is not a surprise that we found that uneven road or moving uphill consumes battery much quicker than traveling on a flat road.Typically, you should expect travelling distance to range from around 10 to 15 miles per charge. If the range is not enough to reach your destination you could always get a spare battery and change it on the go when the other battery runs out.

#4 Prices

Lastly, let’s talk about prices. The current market offers several e-scooters in various price ranges, depending on the design and key features. The average price point we found out is around 200 to 300.

In comparison to cars, electric scooters are one of the cheapest modes of transportation. The charging cost is low and the major cost is the battery, which is required to be changed at least once a year. However, how often you should change your battery also depends on your usage. But what people can agree on is that it is definitely cheaper than cars.

We tested the Razor E100 Electric Scooter with our friend’s kid and I understand why it is a top choice among riders and parents like myself.

Known for their latest technology and high-quality materials, Razor came up once again with a powerful electric scooter.

Designed for ages eight and up, with a kid-sized deck and frame, and traveling at speeds up to 10 miles per hour, this scooter meets our expectations. It is powered by a long-lasting rechargeable 24V seal battery system and includes a UL approved battery charger.

The stated charging time is 12 – 18 hours but it’s recommended to plug in the battery for the maximum charging time of 24 hours for longer usage. In our test, we found out that a fully-depleted battery could be fully charged in just 8 hours.

The scooter features 8-inch pneumatic tires for a smoother ride and has a retractable kickstand for off-and-on-the-go riders. It has a high torque, chain driven motor, with zero-emission electric power that engages a super quiet chain driven motor. The twist grip throttle and hand-operated rear break brings a smoother stopping power which, in turn, provides efficiency and safety. Razor E100 weighs 28.99lbs and has a maximum weight capacity of 120lbs.

Using an Android app called My Tracks on our GPS-enabled Droid X smartphone, we made a speed test while my daughter was riding on level ground. With my daughter weighing approximately 68lbs, the scooter reached a maximum speed of 10.82 mph. The same test with me riding the scooter, considering that I weigh 155 lbs, we registered a maximum speed of 8.63 mph. I can say that even I enjoyed riding the Razor E100.

Overall I am giving a very satisfactory grade to the quality and value of the Razor E100 Electric Scooter.

What We Liked

  • Battery lasts an hour on an uphill/downhill riding
  • Ample Speed
  • Sturdy and solid design with a wide, kid-sized deck
  • Easy to learn
  • Attractive design

What We Didn't Like

  • Gripping power of the rear wheel is reduced on wet surfaces
  • The twist grip accelerator has only one speed, so the initial start can give a bit of a jolt.
  • Heavy

Razor’s E200 Electric Scooter boasts a whisper-quiet high torque and a chain driven motor.

When testing the E200, we found that its high-performance motor quickly gets you to a maximum speed of 12 mph with a total running time of 40 minutes of continuous use. It is powered by a long-lasting rechargeable 24V seal battery system but if you want to achieve a longer ride, you have the option to change out the battery pack to extend your ride.

Common to the E-Series scooters currently released by Razor, the E200 also features a hand-operated rear brake, a twist grip throttle that is hand operated for better and smoother stopping power. Razor also installed a spring-loaded kickstand for convenience, easy access, and easier storage. It has large, 8-inch pneumatic tires for a smoother ride. The E200 offers a quality performance and the maneuverability you need to make every ride a blast. As with most of Razor’s devices, I am personally impressed with its solid and remarkable design of steel frame and fork, which definitely promises longer exciting rides.

The recommended initial charging time is 12 hours with a recharge time of 12 – 24 hours.

It also includes tools for easy and fast assembly - it took me around 5 minutes to set it up. The device weighs 38.69lbs with a maximum weight capacity of 154lbs. The E200 is designed and recommended for beginners, which is why skill level is not a particular requirement.

What We Liked

  • Runs reliably when raining
  • Quick for fun speeds, but not fast as to be dangerous
  • Sturdy and solid design
  • Easy to learn
  • Fast assembly

What We Didn't Like

  • May slow down on an incline
  • Could not ride on grass

When I got a hand on the new Razor E300, I was particularly impressed by its basic gray color.

I can say that this is a manly and tough looking e-scooter.

The Razor E300 is by far the largest in the lineup of e-scooters introduced by Razor, known as the maker of lightweight scooters since about 18 years ago.

The E300 is capable of speeds up to 15mph and able to support riders weighing up to 220lbs.

Today, the use of e-mobiles is becoming a trend and there is no way I could miss giving the E300 a try.

The E300, like the E100 and E200, requires minimum assembly time, requiring merely a few minutes with a hex wrench to get the steering column attached. A solid tube of steel forms the frame and there are loose cables that serve as the accelerator and brakes from deck to handlebars.

The deck is just wide enough. It also includes a nonskid material on the surface for a great foot grip. Behind the deck, Razor hides two sealed lead acid rechargeable batteries of 12V each, contributing to the 46lbs overall weight. Two extra-wide pneumatic tires, approximately 10 inches each, support the deck and bringing superior comfort and control. I like the brushed steel shell over the rear wheel, which provides a convenient place to rest my foot. The power switch is down on the side of the deck, next to the charging port.

The E300’s improved features include the drive controls, brake, and accelerator. An electric motor mounted at the rear of the deck drives the rear wheel with a chain and simple reduction gear. By twisting the right handlebar, the accelerator, the E300 takes off. When the left handlebar brake lever is pulled, it stops.

If Razor wants to have an edge in the industry of e-mobiles, they could improve or add some features which would diminish worries about safety and performance. Without any sort of charge indicator, I had no idea how much electricity I had left. Although Razor specs merely note that the E300 can run for about 40 minutes on a single charge, it would be a lot better to know your battery status instantly. They could have also integrated lighting, such as LEDs in the front and rear, that could have made the E300 safe to ride at night. The E300's wall adapter featured a little green light, which served as my only indication of a full charge.

As for parking, the E300 has a convenient kickstand, but there is no way to lock it up. It lacks any sort of link or hole through which I could put a bicycle lock, which I guess would be a good excuse to ride it nonstop when running errands.

What We Liked

  • Quiet running motors
  • Survives in heavy rains
  • No noticeable decrease in power during uphill riding
  • Weight capacity of 220lbs

What We Didn't Like

  • Lack battery level indicator

When I first heard the name of this E-scooter, I expected it have an improved performance compared to the original E90. It didn’t disappoint.

The Power Core E90 is upping the ante for electric scooters once again, rolling out 80 minutes of continuous ride time and fifty-percent more muscle power.

It can reach speeds up to 10mph with up to 80 minutes of continuous use.

If you want your kids to have longer rides in a leisure speed of 10mph, this E-scooter might be a good choice.

Its innovative high-torque hub motor delivers a more efficient, maintenance-free ride. There is no chain or chain tensioner needed. It features a kick start and a push-button throttle, a hand-operated front fender brake, urethane front wheel, and a retractable kickstand. All the while, the lighter steel frame delivers a faster and smoother ride.

The Power Core E90 is recommended for people 8 years and above. If safety is your worry because your child is a beginner, this E-scooter is an appropriate choice mainly because of its speed. It provides an easy grasp and control and it’s fast enough for them to have fun but not but not at a speed that could spell danger.

Like what I always suggest to most users, make sure to follow the manual instruction regarding the charging time to maximize the battery life of the device. I charged it overnight for about 12 hours before I let my child use it. It has an easy charging feature and the assembly time is fast and simple.

Overall, the battery of the Power Core E90 is very impressive. My child had no complaints and he could even use it inside our carpeted home considering the controlled speed. It comes in green and pink color weighing 22lbs and with a maximum weight capacity of 120lbs.

What We Liked

  • Controlled speed for kids
  • For beginners
  • Long lasting battery

It's one of the latest models introduced by Razor is the E125 Electric Scooter which has been rated highly among our friends and users.

Since the year 2000, Razor goes an extra mile in order to design scooters with features that are innovative and high quality at affordable range.

The E125 has a continuous ride time of 40 minutes at 10mph.

It can fully charge in just 12 hours. Recharging time is 12 hours to a maximum of 24 hours.

It has a hand-operated front brake, and it has an adjustable handlebar that adapts to riders of different sizes. Also, the E125 Electric Scooter has a chain-driven motor, high-torque, and twist-grip throttle. In addition, it has a hand-operated front brake, 4.9-inch polyurethane rear wheel, an 8-inch pneumatic front tire, 12-volt batteries, and a powerful charger.

I can say that the E125 is a good e-scooter for pre-teens and teens alike. Unlike Razor's E300S and E500S scooters, whose motors start from a standing position, the E125 requires a small manual kickoff up to 3 miles per hour before starting where the rider presses a trigger to engage the motor. Once the rider is on the move, however, the electric motor ramps up to 10 miles per hour, fast enough for your kids.

The E125 Electric Scooter comes with a folding handlebar mechanism, as this simplifies the transportation and storage process at all times, which is something that cannot be said about other scooters that are on the market right now. It has an 8-inch pneumatic front tire and 4.9-inch polyurethane rear wheel, and a hand-operated front brake. It weighs around 25lbs and has a weight capacity of 120lbs

The E125 is a reliable model that does what Razor states it will do. It is a scooter with safety features, which is why many parents love this brand.

Looking for the right transition electric scooter for your growing kids is sometimes a challenge.

The GRT 11 electric scooter allows your kids to enjoy up to fifty minutes of uninterrupted riding time.

I am personally happy to receive this item for review given the fact that Razor is one of the most well-received brands in market today.

Let’s have a look on the GRT-11 Electric Scooter from Pulse Performance Products, creators of scooters that are beginner-friendly and the ones who introduced the push-to-go technology.

Giving it a try with my kids, I found that this scooter is easy to use because it relies on a simple push-to-go technology.

Before the electronic action starts, it is required that your kids push on using their feet. Even though my kids have tried numerous scooters, thanks to our friends on the market, their riding is not always perfect at the very start. The GRT 11 is specifically meant for kids and beginners who needs to stabilize or perfect their ride. If you want your kids learn how to ride and you worry about safety and the complications of teaching them, starting with this e-scooter may be a good idea.

Starting the machine, you immediately get as much as 80 watts of power, which is sufficient to power it for almost an hour. It has a solid and sturdy design such that kids of about 120 lbs can be comfortably accommodated. The system was well designed such that kids can handle the e-scooter easily. The GRT 11 is not only durable, but also very comfortable to ride. It was constructed using heavy-duty steel materials ensuring that the scooter serves you for a very long time. In addition to that, it is fitted with handlebars and internal frames to ensure that your kids derive maximum comfort while they handle the machine.

This great product also has wonderful features such as a 12-volt battery system and the battery can be recharged when it runs out. It is fitted with hand bars and a contoured stem to ensure that your kids enjoy the most comfortable ride. It also has an extra sticky grip tape with vibrant graphics, which is designed to last for a very long time.

The GRT-11 brake is located in the rear of the deck, just like our AuthorityAdviser's list of best adult kick scooters, so the rider’s weight is properly distributed on the deck and stopping is easy to control. To ensure the comfort and your kid’s safety, the machine is fitted with rear foot brake, which has an electric switch. You do not need to worry about the safety of your kids, because this e-scooter is integrated with the most efficient brake system.

Another great thing is that this scooter does not need constant maintenance and is easy to assemble. By the way, the contoured stem and handlebars is slick, which is uncommon in the Razor brands, and which offers an ergonomic comfort to your kids. A simple LED light on/off indicator for safety and a power converter for recharging is also a plus.

What We Liked

You might be wondering, “What are the brands of E-scooters made and intended for adults like us?”

The Glion Adult Electric Dolly-Fold Scooter is one. Fresh from the box, I immediately gave this a try without further thought. It’s like a gift to myself.

Besides, aside from the fun, I wanted to test if it would be a useful commuting tool for my daily activities without resorting to my car or bike.

First, the Glion Adult Li-Ion Battery, Dolly-Fold Scooter is literally simple, a reliable device of its kind, with a clean and smooth design, quiet and built to last.

It has a remarkable power source, from a 36V 6.6ah rechargeable Sony lithium ion battery, and a potent 250-watt brushless hub motor which could peak up to 600-watts, located in the rear wheel.

It was smartly manufactured without chains or gears and it quietly delivers enough boost to move the average adult, in my case 170lbs, at up to 15 miles an hour, which is faster than a runner at full sprint. Crafted from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum, I can say that this e-scooter has a durable frame. It is also powder-coated to resist corrosion. The 8-inch tires feature a never-flat honeycomb interior developed by the military which guarantees a soft ride. Braking is smooth and secure, with an antilock electronic brake safely located inside the rear hub motor.

Want to use it during rainy or wet seasons? Worry no more, for all the controls are water-resistant which made me really happy, and it is convenient and easy to use. A twist-grip accelerator is located on the right which makes it go while on the left, a twist-grip brake makes it stop.

I was complaining about the Razor’s absence of a battery indicator but the Glion Adult Electric Dolly-Fold Scooter has an easy to read handlebar-mounted battery indicator to keep track of your battery life. Glion did an excellent job! It also comes with a pedestrian bell and cover bag.

The Glion Electric Scooter weighs only 28 pounds and with its patented vertical self-standing feature, retractable handle, and roller wheels you can walk with it like a roller bag suitcase. It can accommodate up to 255lbs of weight and with its 1-second foot activated the folding mechanism, you can quickly fold the scooter and dolly it basically anywhere.

Razor E90 is one of the first E-scooter launched by Razor. It is an all-new cool zippy electric scooter that features a push button throttle and a single battery, which speeds up to 9mph or approximately 13kph.

It has a rear foot brake for a smooth transition.

Comparing to other E-scooters on the market, the E90 is one of those classified in the lightweight category.

However, this doesn’t mean that it is of lesser quality. Razor still managed to manufacture an E-scooter with a heavy duty all steel frame and a single 12V sealed the lead acid rechargeable battery. Battery charging time is 12 hours.

The E90 can go longer and is easier to transport giving it an edge on the market and, at the same time, experiencing the power of the classic E100 Electric Scooter. It uses a simple kick-start chain-driven motor resulting from a zero-emission electric power. It can travel up to 50 minutes of continuous use at a speed of up to 9 mph while the E100 has a max speed of 10mph. It also features a spring-loaded kickstand for off-and-on-the-go riders, rubber hand grips for the easy and comfortable ride for kids, and a newly enhanced pressure foot brake for smooth stopping power. It is similar to the design used on Razor’s kick scooters.

Although some assembly is required for the E90, it is fast and simple. It weighs 22.05lbs and suitable for aged 8 and older and it can accommodate up to 120lbs of weight.

Competing with the award-winning Razor E100 is the E100 Glow Electric Scooter.

When I heard that Razor is releasing this version of the E100, I was so excited that one of my colleagues immediately sent me this device for trial and review.

The glow definitely transformed the best-selling E100 electric scooter like a bolt of blue lightning streaking down on the neighborhood.

This e-scooter has a speed of up to 10mph and blue LEDs that light up each time you twist the throttle.

Thanks to cheap electronics, children now have access to motor-driven e-mobiles, such as the Razor E100 Glow electric scooter.

After receiving my item, my kids and I started unpacking the E100 Glow, probably one of Razor's smallest scooters. Though it requires some assembly, I was able to assemble it in minutes using the included hex wrench. All Razor e-scooters come with a charger. So, as expected, I snagged its charger from the box and plugged it in. The E100 Glow has two 12V sealed lead acid rechargeable battery system and the recommended battery charging time is usually 12 hours.

This tough-looking e-scooter is great for both my son and myself. We both admire its black, tubular construction. I can tell by merely looking at the handlebars that they will be soft and comfortable to the hands, especially for the kids. The wide deck is covered with non-skid rubber which gives a good grip for the feet. What all made us excited, however, was that Razor includes a strip of blue LED lights around the edge of the deck, hence the "glow" in its model name.

Overall, compared to the E100, the brake, accelerator, and kickstand were all the same. Those LEDs are about it for extras. There is still no charge indicator or any kind of front or rear lights, which would make this scooter a little safer to ride in the evening, especially for the kids. The E100 Glow weighs 32lbs, has a maximum capacity of 120lbs, with a power that lasts up to 40 minutes of continuous use.

Not as popular as the other e-scooters in the market, the Maxtra still made our list and it is one of our favourite for sure.

Maxtra is a brand of low-end electric scooters, especially great for those who are on a budget.

Maxtra is all about affordability and quality when it comes to E-scooters. Not all can afford the durability and reliability of the Razor series but still want the best E-scooters for our kids.

The Maxtra is made from a durable steel frame, allowing a maximum weight capacity of 170lbs. The e-scooter can definitely accommodate additional weight because of its solid and sturdy design. The engine power is controlled by the right handlebar, while the brake is on the left handlebar. The adjustable handlebars and the rear clipping brake make it easier to control. The hand-operated power on and brake makes the starting and stopping of the device simple. It also has a twist-grip throttle acceleration control and a new belt that is motor-driven.

The Maxtra is also constructed with a wide deck and with more space to accommodate the rider. Thus, more comfort is expected. In addition to these features, minimal power is required, which reduces power consumption and makes the Maxtra Electric Scooter eco-friendly. It is powered by a long lasting rechargeable 24V battery which can be recharged more than 250 times.

Please note that this product should be used only on safe, dry smoothly paved or hard packed surfaces. It reaches speeds of up to 7.5 mph via a 120W motor, which means a slower speed of 8 mph can provide our kids more safety. The Maxtra Electric Scooter  weighs 21.36lbs and can accommodate up to 170lbs. The use of safety equipment such as helmet and knee pads is always a must.

Our Recommendation

Editor's Choice: Glion Dolly-Fold Electric Scooter

Although Razor e-scooters are a powerhouse in the e-scooter market, my personal favourite is the Glion Dolly-Fold Electric Scooter because it has a clean and smooth design, is quiet and built to last, and met my needs. I also like the fact that it’s water-resistant and that the handlebar-mounted battery indicator allows me to keep track of my battery life. This is something that is missing on any Razor e-scooter.

Plus, it can accommodate up to 255lbs. Not to mention you can quickly fold the scooter and bring it anywhere with its 1-second foot activated folding mechanism. Its portability is definitely also one of its greatest selling points.

Runner-ups: Razor E100 Electric Scooter & Razor Power Core E90 Electric Scooter

The Razor E100, one of the most popular one of the most adored e-scooters by parents, is also worth a mention. It has a max speed of 10mph which is fast enough to bring joy and yet not fast enough to pose a danger by causing kids to fall off.

After speaking to my teammate and hours of research, we think The Razor E100 is a great e-scooter choice for beginners because its simple and easy to use.

Though the product description mentions that it has a maximum capacity of 120lbs, I personally tried it with my weight of 155lbs, and the speed barely changed compared to my kid who weighs just 68lbs. Overall, the Razor E100’s performance is pretty satisfactory.

RAZOR ELECTRIC SCOOTERS COMPARED

We can’t deny that Razor is one of the leading manufacturer of quality, affordable and environmental-friendly electric scooters. The TOP 10 PICKS speaks for itself. Razor is one of the most respected manufacturers in the market of e-mobiles.

Design, speed, weight capacity. These are just some of the many things to consider when choosing the best electric scooter for yourself. You don’t have to be a teenager to claim ownership to of an e-scooter, not to mention, enjoy the benefits of this current trend. E-scooters are especially helpful in surviving the urban jungle and escaping the last-mile problem.

In this regard, we chose to compare the different models of E-scooters introduced by Razor in the hopes that this might help you and your kids decide which one to buy.

Meanwhile, for an extended ride, we think the Razor Power Core E90 Electric Scooter is a solid choice. It could roll out a 80 minutes of continuous ride time at 50% more muscle power as compared to its competitors running only for 40 minutes. It speeds up to 10mph with up to 80 minutes of continuous use.

Electric scooters won’t replace your car or help you through your 50-mile commute, but for the kind of lifestyle we have now in the metropolitan areas and the struggles we go through, the e-scooters make moving from point A to B a lot easier and much more joyful.
