How Do Automatic Cigarette Rollers Work?
Automatic cigarette rollers are small and compact. It works by adding tobacco evenly to the tobacco’s compartment and placing a cigarette tube on the end nozzle. You can start the machine by either pulling a lever or pushing a button. Engaging the machine will then insert the tobacco into the cigarette tube.
There are also non-electric cigarette rollers which work by adding a roller paper (make sure to moisten the edge) into a compartment then snugly putting in bits of the tobacco at the bottom of that compartment. We swept through the whole state in search for local cigarette shops. We made it a point to visit the most popular ones so that we won’t miss out on any of available cigarette rollers.
We were not at all surprised at how many we found (about 30 different kinds) because we expected that there were a lot of automatic cigarette rollers we can choose.
A specialized team was then formed to assess all of the cigarette rollers we’ve found. We began by noting all the information, features and characteristics that we deemed were vital on each of them. We then itemized the common buying criteria by conducting surveys and gathering crowd-sourced opinions.

The Powermatic 2 PLUS Electric Cigarette Injector Machine is one of the popular models in the market. It is basically a spoon fed electric cigarette injector machine that is capable of injecting tobacco in king-sized and 100mm -sized tubes.
From our hands-on testing, we discovered that this machine filled the tubes in approximately 2 seconds. Its motor will only run upon filling the tube. We also loved that the noise it makes was fairly minimal.
Upon evaluating how well it fills 100mm tubes, we’ve determined that you have to add a little more tobacco to each end and at the middle of the tube. It took a while to get used to it but, after a few tries, it became easier to gauge the amount of tobacco needed.
The injector nozzle on this machine is long enough to fill 100mm tubes, but we found that you have to give it a little push after each fill to get the tobacco packed to the end of the filter.
Kings are relatively easier to make. We were able to determine that it takes about 1 and a half teaspoon of tobacco to fill a king size cigarette. We have rolled about 20 Kings in a matter of 20 minutes, and we were quite impressed.

Most of us were pretty new at this roll-your-own-cigarette concept and the All In One Automatic Cigarette Roller & Storage Box, made us smile every time a little cigarette pops out of its lid because it looked like magic. Just open the box, put the paper in place, add the tobacco, close the lid, and then pop! A cigarette emerges.
We found that this little portable device made rolling cigarettes easier, faster, and stress-free in comparison to the other products we reviewed. We loved that it packs tight cigarettes and that the below compartment is very handy for catching loose tobacco. It is also big enough to store extra tobacco and rolling papers.
We came across some difficulty in finding the right size of paper to use since it is marginally smaller. We have determined that this accepts up to 70mm paper only. But when we tested it, the machine worked with and without filters, so that gave it a lot of points in our book.
To make up for the short length, we found that it rolls fat cigarettes just like how it used to be in the 1920’s.

When we tried the PoweRoll by TOP-O-Matic Electric Cigarette Machine, we found that it makes solid and consistent king size cigarette tubes. We loved how this comes with its own chamber guard, protective case, tamper and a cleaning kit.
Although it will only make king size cigarettes, we think that it makes quality cigarettes- twice as good as the other contenders. It doesn’t crush the tobacco so there won’t be any problems about the embers at the end of the cigarette falling off in the middle of a smoke.
We were able to make about 70 cigarettes in 1 hour and encountered very minimal jams (around two) . We also figured that when it was jammed, it’s better not to force it by trying to roll another cigarette. It’s best to switch it on with the tobacco chamber door open. This technique pushes out the jam and avoids scratching the injector and tobacco chamber.

As the smallest device in the Powermatic family, we believe that this device makes a decent cigarette. We found that its small and compact design are making it easy to take with you wherever you need to go.
From the feedback we received, we noticed that people usually purchase two cigarette rollers – one to use and the other for back-up. We think that Powermatic Mini Cigarette Injector can also be a good alternative as a back-up as it is used as your main or primary cigarette roller machine. It is most useful during outages.
When we tried rolling cigarettes with this device, we were able to make about 40 100mm cigarettes before getting a jam. It was, however, because we accidentally stuffed too much tobacco in the chamber.
We also observed that as we made more cigarettes, the tobacco tended to build up in the filter- it’s noticeable when the lever becomes stuck. So we cleaned it with the tools that came along with the device. We thought it’s better to use a filter before filling the tobacco chamber to avoid getting unwanted buildup.

5. Top-O-Matic Cigarette Rolling Machine – Editor’s Choice
Throughout our product testing and evaluation, we considered many different factors when comparing each of the five automatic cigarette rollers. But the most important factor of all is how well each could roll a cigarette. We believe that the Top-O-Matic Cigarette Rolling Machine does the job really well.
We noticed that it was impossible to over-stuff this device since its tobacco chamber only had enough to fill 1 tube of cigarette. We also observed that you could clean the machine by taking the rubber mat off the bottom then cycling the lever a few times. After that, flip the machine upside down then cycle the lever again a few more times- this removes the fine tobacco dust that has accumulated inside the roller. This is a good thing because it mean that we could easily restore the machine back to normal.
We also found out that it’s better to use smooth tobacco. Regular pipe tobacco is too large and coarse causing the machine to jam up. It is also important to keep in mind to dry your tobacco before rolling it. Otherwise, it will stick and create a whole bunch of problems.

Choosing the best automatic cigarette roller was difficult. All five of the cigarette rollers we tested were capable of rolling a perfectly packed cigarette. Ultimately, our decision was tied down to a few tie-breaker factors: how efficient the rollers packed a cigarette, how sturdy the machine is, and how quickly it could make one carton of cigarettes.
If we were to choose one ourselves, we’d go for the Top-O-Matic Cigarette Rolling Machine. With its well-built and robust cigarette injector, it can easily and evenly pack a cigarette tube.
